Stump Grinding

Tree stumpOnce a tree has been removed, the stump remains.  A specialized piece of equipment called a stump grinder can turn the remaining stump into mulch.  Modern stump grinders are narrow enough to fit through standard gates and many are self-propelled.  Although most stumps can be ground with a stump grinder, not all are possible or desirable.  Even with the increased portability of newer machines, some locations have too many obstacles impeding access.

Additionally, depending on the location within the surrounding landscape, leaving the stump may make sense.  If the root system of a nearby tree is intertwined within the area of the stump, grinding the stump may adversely impact the health of the surviving tree.Stump grinding, stump removal

Prior to removing a stump with a stump grinder, state law requires the arborist to have the underground utilities marked by Miss Utility.  Growing Earth Tree Care will take care of this requirement for our clients.  Miss Utility will send us a clear ticket and we will be able to schedule the stump grinding.  This necessary process demands that stumps are not usually ground on the same day as the tree removal.  Exceptions can be made for extenuating circumstances, but that requires some prior planning.
